THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

• Labor relations in Azerbaijan are regulated by Labor Code and relevant legislation;
• Labor relations enter into force after the signed labor contract is uploaded to the electronic database of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population;  
• Salaries are paid in Azerbaijani manat;
• During the recruitment period, a 3-month trial period is applied;
• 70 days before birth and 56 days after birth women are paid an allowance for maternity leave by the State Social Protection Fund;
• Every month, income tax is paid to the state budget from employee salaries;
• Work week is 40 hours, Saturday and Sunday are non-working days;
• There are officially 19 non-working days in the country;
• Employees are compensated by the State Social Protection Fund  if they do not come to work due to illness;
• Foreigners intending to carry out labor activity in Azerbaijan must obtain work permits and temporary residence permits from the State Migration Service through the employer;
• Foreigners of a certain category are exempt from obtaining work permit;
• Azerbaijan has free trade agreements with Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan;
• There is a 3-point judicial system for solution to controversial issues.
